Weight: 21 pounds 4 ounces
Length: 28 inches

2 bottom teeth and 4 about to pop through his gums on the top.

Standing up and walking with support. He just needs to get his balance and he will be mobile.

Happy and in perfect health. A perfect little angel.

Gavin’s hair was always in his face so we decided to give him his first haircut. Unfortunately, I thought it would be a good idea to do the actual cutting while his hair was wet. I cut his bangs at his eyebrow level but after his hair dried they were an inch shorter than we wanted.

Luckily, Gavin’s hair grows very fast so hopefully he will look normal again in 2 or 3 weeks. In the meantime, he will look like a little Julius Caesar and I will be in the dog house.

Aliciana and Gavin spent all weekend sick. I did my best to take care of them but there isn’t much you can do for a 9 month old with a cold. All I could offer is lots of cuddling and back rubs. Gavin can’t take any medicine except Children’s Tylenol, which does help with his aches. But his little cough just breaks my heart.

We had to resort to giving him his second bath of the day this evening. His ‘baby spa’ with Johnson’s Soothing Vapor Bath is the only thing that could make him comfortable.

The little part that actually made it into his mouth was a hit 🙂

Yesterday, in the early morning hours, our cat of 16 years passed away in her sleep. Pumba was extremely loving and loyal. She was a constant companion anytime someone was outside. All she ever asked for was an occasional rub of the stomach and a few kitty treats.

I could tell her years were catching up with her over the past several months. During the last few days of her life, Pumba was growing very lethargic and didn’t seem to have the energy to even stand up to greet you. But, she wasn’t in pain and still purred up a storm when we pet her. I am very thankful that she was never in pain.

My family and I are sad that she is gone but we are glad that she passed on peacefully among loved ones. She will be greatly missed by all the family members who cared for her during her long life. We were all blessed to have had such a loving companion through all these years.

Gavin is almost a year old. I’ve collected several photos over the past year that I have not previously posted. It’s amazing how much he’s changed. Here are photos from his first 3 months.

Gavin loves to play in his gym. He recently learned how to grab his toys. (He just turned 2 months old.)

The start of our move to Bakersfield. Gavin was such a trooper during our trip. 3 days on the road would be long for anyone.

“Look at my milk beard.”

Of course, Gavin had more fun with the paper grass in the basket than with his new book or the rabbit his Grandma Toni and Grandpa Rick gave him. The things that make the most mess are always the most fun.

Our little couch potato. Gavin discovered the tv right before we moved from Seattle. No matter where he is sitting he will find the tv.

I can’t believe this year has gone by so fast. It seems like you were only a small baby for a brief moment and I’m afraid before we know it you will be all grown up. But, “Ma-ma” and “Da-da” are enjoying every minute with you.

Baby Bear, always remember your family, mother, and I love you with all our hearts! We are looking forward to all the adventures we get to spend together in the future. Thank you for blessing our lives with such joy.
