The 3rd Grade classes sang a bunch of Broadway musical numbers for this year’s performance. Gavin did well up there in front of everyone, even though singing isn’t his favorite thing to do. The kids must have put in a lot of work all year long to memorize both the songs (9 of them!) and the movements.

The Turtleback kindergarten classes invited all their parents to have a nice picnic on the lawn by the school’s friendship garden. After everyone got settled in and ate some food, the kiddos performed a cute arrangement of songs they have been learning with Mr. Lee, their music teacher (playing guitar in the videos below).

It was a beautiful evening and they did a magnificent job! After the show, the parents got to visit and tour the friendship garden while the kids ran around and played.

A few of the songs they sang (sorry they are shaky):

All the dads in the Room 5 family were invited to a Daddy Day celebration in the morning. Connor and the other Room 5 kids performed a cute play and sang us songs. Then we all got to go outside and enjoy a donut. Yummy!

Beetle Rock is a fun place to climb around on and enjoy the views. Gavin loved coming here when he was a toddler. We even threw around the baseball a little bit.

Earlier in the day, we went for a hike in the snow. The boys had run throwing chunks of it into a creek:

The boys had games at the exact same time… so we spent a lot of time running back and forth between fields.

The first graders performed a collection of classic Disney tunes for their annual performance. Connor even had a small speaking part between two of the songs.

The fourth grade kids started off by playing 3 songs on their recorders. Then they did a play with lots of songs about the gold rush, called “Gold Dust or Bust”.

My wife was awarded Turtleback’s Volunteer of the year at the Friday Flag assembly. Her friend CJ made sure she was at school, by saying she had some tax documents she needed Aliciana to review after the assembly. So, Aliciana was surprised when she got the award.

I also got videos of the kids doing their class cheers during the assembly:

After only 3 months of once-a-week classes, the band was ready to put on their first concert. They sounded great!

Another nice and sunny San Diego Christmas. In the morning, the boys opened their presents. Then we headed to Eddie and Sally’s house in the afternoon, for Christmas dinner and a few more presents.

We gathered at my sister-in-law Kristel’s house to celebrate Easter with the Loera clan and some of her husband’s family. We even got cupcakes and sang to Gavin for his 11th birthday.

Big brother Gavin helped Connor warm up before the game.

Connor had a little graduation program for his Life Lessons classes he participated in though the school. He showed off his karate skills and the instructors demonstrated the different character lessons they taught.

Gavin had a great game, getting several hits and looking amazing out in the field while playing 3rd and LF. The Bandits won the game when it was called due to a mercy rule: 17 to 2.
